AIDS Institute Reporting Systems (AIRS)
AIRS is the sponsored relational database system of the New York State Department of Health—AIDS Institute (NYSDOH-AI). AIRS is the only application that supports both Ryan White and CDC funded contractors.
AIRS was developed and is currently fully supported by Defran Systems under contract with NYSDOH-AI. Defran Systems continually tests and enhances AIRS, coordinates agency system implementation, provides group and individual system training, develops training curriculum and user documentation, and provides extensive user support.
AIRS was designed to capture client information, track encounters and services, generate reports, produce billing claims and create extract files. With over 300 systems installed in two states, standardized reports and extracts are generated and submitted to Federal, State and Municipal agencies that provide funding to contracted agencies for HIV-related services. Defran Systems developed the data warehouse, AIDS Institute Data Application (AIDA) that accepts data extracts from agencies to enable statewide reporting. AIDA is operational at the NYSDOH-AIDS Institute, CT Department of Public Health, and Medical Health Research Association/Datalink.
Released in 1996 as the Uniform Reporting System (URS), AIRS was recently retooled for use on a newer state-of-the-art technology platform. Included with the retooling came many system enhancements and additional functionality.
