Position Overview:
The Director of Product Management plays a key leadership role in the continued transformation and growth of the business. Requiring both strategic planning and hands-on execution, this role is responsible for leading, and fully owning all aspects of product management and user experience, defining and enhancing Defran's software offerings to support company direction and strategy to ensure ongoing success in the marketplace.
The Director of Product Management is responsible for ensuring the product management process and execution is done in a highly ethical, knowledgeable and professional manner, contributing to and enhancing the company's reputation and brand within the industry.
The Director of Product Management works closely with the leadership team to identify and capitalize on opportunities to increase revenue, enhance customer relationships, improve profitability, reduce cost, strengthen compliance, and establish new sources of competitive differentiation.
Position Responsibilities:
- Be the product leader for Defran software. Take ownership of Defran software products, and think holistically about products across the entire chain, from development and QA to Sales and Professional Services.
- Create a long-term vision for all of Defran's software products. Think strategically about industry trends, competition, compliance, and company positioning. Develop a roadmap to differentiate Defran products and penetrate the market.
- Recruit, develop and retain top Product Management and User Experience talent. Lead the team; ensure cross-fertilization and standardization across team members.
- Be the voice of the customer throughout the organization. Ensure that the customer input is being considered in all product-related decisions. Help to establish a culture where everyone (not just Product Managers) is customer-centric.
- Define / refine product management processes as need be, including (but not limited to) primary customer research, writing requirements, prototyping, prioritization, development and QA, launch, and
sales support. - Define and communicate Product Management Methodology and process for Defran (PMM) including the format and timing for presentation to and evaluation by executive team.
- Responsible for gathering all inputs into the product management process from the marketplace, industry and sales process including regulatory, competition, competitive intelligence, customer needs, implementation needs and contractual obligations utilizing outside resources and expertise as necessary.
- As part of PMM, presents to executive leadership team for review, analysis, recommendations, prioritization and final decision along with supporting research and data for product direction, changes or enhancements. Lead and facilitate the decision making process with the exec team in creating the product roadmap.
- Define and develop business/product requirements and translates into functional specifications for development to create technical specs. Works with development in ensuring feasibility, functionality and integration with existing systems.
- Works cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Product Development, and Client Services to create and execute on product roadmap, define product requirements, and manage product roll-outs including involvement with the QA process to ensure success.
- Collaborate with Sales to increase business, i.e. support sales & marketing for new business development, respond to RFPs, coordinate and/or participate in sales presentations, as needed.etc.
Technical knowledge, skills and education:
- Bachelors Degree in Management a minimum.
- 10 years experience in product management for a healthcare application software provider required.
- 5 years functional management experience in product management for a healthcare application software provider.
- Human services industry knowledge highly desirable.
- Travel: Up to 25% as needed.
